Eindhoven Airport asked us to build a digital platform that could handle rapid growth and rising traveler expectations. The result? A fast, scalable and modular website – now fully WCAG-compliant. With real-time flight data, intuitive navigation, and built-in accessibility tools, we created a futureproof platform that every user can navigate with ease. Accessible design meets powerful tech.
LiveWall developed a custom-built website for Eindhoven Airport, designed entirely around the needs of the traveler. The site is built using a modular block structure, allowing the airport’s marketing team to easily create, manage, and update pages themselves. That makes the platform flexible, scalable, and easy to maintain.
We chose a headless CMS (Storyblok) combined with Next.js to ensure top-tier performance and lightning-fast load times. Thanks to this modern tech stack, the site is futureproof, scalable, and easily connects with external tools and platforms.
As of June 2025, all websites in the Netherlands must comply with the WCAG guidelines (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). These international standards ensure that digital content is accessible to everyone – including users with visual, motor, or cognitive impairments.
livewall made the existing Eindhoven Airport website fully WCAG AA compliant. We did this by:
Adding a color contrast tool (accessible via the icon in the top-right corner),
Making the entire site navigable via keyboard (tab key),
And ensuring all images and buttons are properly labelled in the code, so screen readers can accurately describe each element and action on the site.
The result? A website that's inclusive and user-friendly for everyone – without compromising on design or experience.
“When building the website, we had to consider several integrations,” explains Shelley. “Things like flight data, parking reservations, airline ticketing… most visitors – or family members picking someone up – just want to know if their flight is on time. So the real-time flight information connection was key.”
“But it’s also an informative platform. Everything about your journey and beyond can be found on the site. Whether you're a traveler, a local resident, or simply curious about the airport’s sustainability efforts – each audience has its place (and a smooth landing).”
“For the Eindhoven Airport website, we use a headless CMS, which gives the marketing team full control to manage and update content independently and quickly,” says Shelley.
The new digital and inclusive platform delivered immediate impact:
80% faster load times compared to the previous site
+40% increase in mobile visitors thanks to a mobile-first approach
Fully WCAG AA compliant, ready for the June 2025 accessibility legislation
Quick, independent content creation by Eindhoven Airport’s own team
