For nearly 70 years, the Eurovision Song Contest has provided ample entertainment. With millions of viewers worldwide, it is one of the most-watched and longest-running music events in the world. For the Dutch delegation, led by AVROTROS, it is important to keep innovating.
The mobile web app offers a dynamic and interactive experience for rating performances during the Eurovision Song Contest. Users can rate all acts in real-time on various aspects such as the song, vocals, outfits, and assign an overall score. Thanks to the integration of friend groups, the ratings of your friends are instantly visible, which increases engagement.
Additionally, the app features a quiz module, with each show accompanied by a quiz and a leaderboard, allowing users to compete against their friends within their friend group.
The results of ratings and quizzes can easily be shared on social media via stylish share cards, enabling users to proudly showcase their experiences and achievements to their network.
During the Eurovision Song Contest semifinals, over 100,000 profiles and 25,000 friend groups were created in the web app. Unfortunately, this did not expand further, as the tool was not used during the final due to the withdrawal of the Dutch entry from the Song Contest final.
